Queensland Health welcomes the skills and experience that overseas trained mental health professionals have to offer our services.
We currently have staff from a variety of international countries across the globe and acknowledge the contribution that international health staff make to our services.
Internationally trained mental health professionals must be able to be registered with the appropriate board or professional body to practise in Queensland. Check Requirements to Practise for further information.
There are several pathways to achieve employment with Queensland Mental Health Services:
If you are not an Australian citizen or resident, you will need a visa to work in Queensland. Queensland Health's preferred sponsorship visa for new staff moving from overseas is the Temporary Long Stay Business visa (Sub-class 457).
Queensland Health also use the Employer Nomination Scheme and Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme to assist our staff to transition from a temporary working visa to permanent residency.
If you are considering moving to Queensland it is important that you consider the following aspects. We encourage you to do your own research into prospective jobs, their locations, and surrounding areas to ensure you are prepared and ready for life in Queensland, Australia.
What level and type of job are you seeking? What are your first and second preferences? Are you willing to compromise?
