Canadian Food Inspection Agency
This site has pages on food safety and a consumer information centre. It is mainly directed towards industry.
Canadian Partnership for Consumer Food Safety Education
This website is efficient in its presentation and downloading, and is well organised to direct its different audiences. It has a classroom program that can be downloaded. There are fact sheets in Adobe Acrobat or web page format.
Food and Drug Administration (USA)
This site has information for consumers and a section 'for kids'.
Iowa State University Food Safety Project (USA)
The Iowa State University Extension site is colourful and parts will appeal to students. There is a form to complete to obtain the Teachers' Online Guide.
National Food Processors Association (USA)
The National Food Processors Association's (NFPA) safe food consumer website is designed to increase consumer awareness of the safety and nutritional value of processed foods. The site includes pages on school lunches, picnics and barbeques.
Partnership for Food Safety Education (Fight BAC Campaign) (USA)
This site has consumer and educators' information, and includes activities for young people.
North American portal sites on food safety
Portal sites link to numerous sites that may or may not be related to the required topic. They are a great source of web addresses but can be time consuming. The following two sites contain some relevant links.

This site offers web resources and the program it advertises is free on application.
United States Department of Agriculture Food Safety & Inspection Service
This website has links to previously listed websites and many others not listed. Parts of this site will attract young people. It includes food safety education and consumer information. Be aware that data provided may not be in metric units.
